I had thoughts. They basically all disappeared at the mention of another Ilbrea book sitting in a drawer... So theres the middle grade start of Ilbrea story, and this mystery book??
... actually I have to admit to being a bad Ilbrea fan. I bought Seige and Sparrow as soon as I could buy it from you guys directly. Annnnd I still haven't read it. 🫣
I know. I know! I'm just...not prepared for the inevitable heartbreak that comes with Ilbrea.
Phew, now that that confession is out of the way I can continue.
Wait...
My 2 year old has decided he's done with naps, gods help me. Which means the usual time I could snag for myself and listen, read, and comment has disappeared too. Damn it.
Now my thoughts are extra gone.
I know I wanted commend Chris on his read aloud skills. I read Percy Jackson to my 5 year old an night to get her to fall asleep and I can never remember the voices 😅. Last night while reading on of the Trials of Apollo books, which I was reading for the first time myself, I hit a sad bit and struggled through the reading between sobs. And one of my first thoughts after getting throught it was "oh no, how is Chris going to handle it when something devastating happens in Sketchbook? He only gets one day to prepare himself before he reads it to us!" (I just assume Megan is going to make us cry at any and all times, lol).
And I know I wanted to internet high-five Megan for being a fellow "foul-mouthed" person.
I totally understand shelving something until you're emotionally prepared. I've done that with things like Dr. Who, Toy Story, anything I know is going to make me ugly cry. lol
But I will say for an Ilbrea book, Siege and Sparrow is fairly kind to the tear ducts.
The other Ilbrea world book is actually one I'm fairly proud of, but it needs just enough repolishing I haven't found a slot for it in my schedule. Made harder by deciding to start Page by Page and Sketchbook of a Wayward Seer.
I keep dreaming of this mythical two weeks where I have no work outside of WIPs and everything in life stays out of the way and I get so much editing and writing done and then skip off to Disney World for a celebration drink at the end. I don't think that nice stretch of time is ever going to happen, but I did actually manage to send a newsletter this week, which is better than I've managed in a while!
I hope your little one lets you have some reading time!
My house needs a magic 2 weeks of no other obligations, no interrupting illness crap, and no kids actively undoing whatever I'm working on 😅
I didn't even get the extra hour of sleep or uninterrupted work at the end of daylight savings time last night! Booo.
Good to know Siege and Sparrow wont wreak me. I'll start sneaking in some reading whenever I can now. Page by Page has been a helpful lesson for patience for me, lol

Thanks for the high five!
